In Our Community
Fromagerie La Station is deeply rooted in Compton and the Eastern Townships. Our family has lived and worked here for generations, and it is important to us to give back, in our own way, to the organizations, projects and events that help our community thrive.
Every year, we support a variety of causes through donations, sponsorships, products and activities organized at the cheese factory. Rather than list them all, here are a few examples of initiatives that are especially meaningful to us.
Supporting Our Community
Each year, we raise a cow so that its meat can be donated to the Fondation Rock-Guertin, which then redistributes it to individuals and families throughout the Coaticook RCM.
We are also proud to support local organizations such as Maison Aube-Lumière, including through our contribution to the annual Souper L’Envol fundraising event.
For several years, we have also donated cheese for the Club Rotary de Sherbrooke’s annual Vins & Fromages fundraiser, an event that helps support a variety of community initiatives.
For us, contributing to our community means being there for the organizations that support local people every day.
Supporting Local Youth
Our village elementary school holds a very special place in our community.
Several times throughout the year, we organize activities at the cheese factory where visitors are invited to make a voluntary contribution. The funds raised are then donated to the Fondation Compton pour son école, which supports our local elementary school.
We also support the Fondation Christian Vachon through the Grand Tour des Écoles. Funds raised through this initiative help provide breakfasts to children in schools throughout the region.
Supporting the Next Generation of Farmers
Agriculture has been part of our family’s daily life for generations, so supporting young people who choose to build their own future in farming comes naturally to us.
Each year, we contribute to a large cheese fondue event organized with La Relève agricole, an organization dedicated to supporting the next generation of farmers.
We also support 4-H through various activities held throughout the year.
Sharing our knowledge is another important part of supporting the next generation. We therefore offer complimentary guided tours of the farm and cheese factory to certain groups of students studying agricultural production, giving them an opportunity to discover our day-to-day reality, our facilities and the way we work.
For us, supporting the next generation also means sharing our experience and helping inspire young people to pursue a future in agriculture.
Getting Active Together
Cycling, running and outdoor activities are an important part of life in our region, and we are always happy to support events that bring people together through physical activity.
Throughout the year, we contribute to several races, cycling events and other sporting activities, including by providing participants with individual snack-size portions of our cheese.
It’s our own little way of adding some energy… and some cheese to the journey!
Making Room for Arts and Culture
Art and creativity also hold an important place in our family.
We enjoy supporting artistic and cultural projects that contribute to the vitality of our region, including initiatives led by the Centre d’art Rozynski and the Centre culturel de Sherbrooke.
Because a thriving community is also one where artists have the opportunity to create, share and introduce others to their work.
And Many More Projects
Throughout the year, we receive many requests from organizations, events and initiatives throughout the region.
Whenever we can, we are happy to contribute through cheese donations, sponsorships, our time or other forms of support.
Unfortunately, we cannot say yes to every request, but we give special consideration to projects that have a positive impact in our region and reflect values that are important to us: helping others, supporting youth, agriculture, community life, sports, arts and culture.
